Because there are two ways to read the same result, only one of them is what your evidence actually supports, and the difference decides whether you spend the next ten years doing nothing about the one thing nobody measures.

Second drawer down, next to the sink. Garlic. Beetroot. CoQ10. Magnesium. Hawthorn. And a “cardio blend” that cost more than the other five put together. Every bottle more than half full, because you took them properly for months, you were not careless about it, and the readings did not move.
So you closed the drawer and you reached a conclusion. Here it is written out twice, and the two versions are not the same thing at all. One: “supplements do not work on me.” Two: “six specific products, not one of which could reach the wall, failed to move a reading that the wall produces.”
The second one is what your evidence supports. The first one is a verdict on your own body, and it is the reason you stopped looking — because once you believe you are the exception, the whole category goes quiet and every article after that goes straight past you. You did not fail. The ingredient never turned up. The next section is why, and it is a matter of chemistry, not of discipline.
Every Reading You Wrote Down Comes Off The Same Wall

Every artery you own is lined on the inside with a layer one cell thick. It is called the endothelium, it weighs about as much as your liver, and it is an organ, not plumbing. Its job is to make nitric oxide — the signal that tells the muscle wrapped around the vessel to let go and open.
Production starts falling from about forty and keeps falling every decade after, quietly, with no symptom and no test. Garlic’s famous compound is allicin — the bulb’s own defence chemical, built to be violent and short-lived. It is what “high allicin yield” means on the front of a cheap tub. Stomach acid takes it apart in under sixty seconds. It never reaches your bloodstream, which means it never reaches the wall.
That is not a small print quibble, it is the whole result. You were buying a material with a shelf life measured in seconds and expecting it on site three days later. Take it twice a day for nineteen months without missing one and the arithmetic does not change.
So when you say garlic did nothing for you, you are not describing your body. You are describing a molecule that was never going to arrive.
What Two Years In The Dark Actually Changes

Whole bulbs, controlled darkness, no heat, no solvents, twenty-four months. Over that time the unstable allicin converts into S-allyl cysteine — stable, water-soluble, survives digestion, and turns up measurable in blood. It is the compound the cardiovascular research is actually built on, and the tissue it is studied against is the endothelium.
That is the difference between the two conclusions in section 01, and it is a processing step, not a dose. Garlic is harvested once a year, and two years have to pass in the dark before a single pouch exists.

Get The Six Bottles. Turn Them Round.

This is the part you can do before you spend another penny, and you are better placed to do it than almost anybody, because you own the evidence. Bring the bottles to the table, put your glasses on, and turn them round.
One. Does it state the ageing time in months? An actual number. No number on the label means no ageing. Two. Does it name the compound the ageing is supposed to create, or does it just say “garlic extract”? If S-allyl cysteine is not on there, nobody is telling you what the two years were for. Three. How many do you have to take a day? One or two — because the whole point is fewer things to take, not more. Four. Why is it odourless: the ageing, or heat? Five. What happens if it does nothing — how long have you got, do you have to post it back, and will they charge you again next month?
And ignore the big milligram number on the front. “Equivalent to 15,000mg fresh” is the weight of a vegetable that no longer exists, not a quantity of anything active.
Most people who do this come back with the same tally: zero out of six stated an ageing time. Not one. That is not a verdict on you. That is six labels agreeing with each other.
So turn ours round as the seventh. Twenty-four months, printed as a number, because there is no reason to age garlic for two years and then keep quiet about it. S-allyl cysteine named. One softgel. Odourless from the process. Sixty days and nothing to post back. You already know how to audit a label — you did six of them at your own kitchen table. Do the seventh before you decide anything.
So What Would You Actually Change?
Nothing here replaces what your GP has you on, and nobody should stop or change anything on their own. This sits alongside it. And instead of a survey, here are the four numbers you can check yourself before you spend a penny — which is more than any tub on that shelf will give you:
“Odourless” Is Either A Process Or A Confession

Question four is worth its own section, because it is the fastest way to tell two products apart without a laboratory. The smell and the active compound are the same sulphur chemistry. So on a cheap tub, odourless usually means they drove the smell off with heat — they removed the smell by removing the molecule, and printed it on the front as a feature.
On a properly aged extract there is nothing left to strip, because two years in the dark already converted it. No breath, no next-day sweat, no taste coming back at four in the afternoon. Same reason.
If you gave up on garlic partly because of the smell, that is one more line in your file that was never about you either.
One Variable, Sixty Days, Your Own Log

Raymond, mostly you are right, and that is exactly why the months are the one thing worth reading. It is the only claim on a garlic label that costs the seller something to make, because two years of ageing cannot be faked cheaply and nobody prints a number they have not done. Go and count how many of your twenty state it. And an odourless cheap one usually got that way with heat, which takes the chemistry out along with the smell.
